At Monument Valley, you will see these awesome sand formations. Unless you see them in real life, it is hard to describe the color and diversity each formation has. From a distance, you can drive up and see what you would see in only a Western movie or a book. Viewing these formations and buttes are an education by themselves.

There is an information center that helped explain the history. We mainly just experience the sites but we did manage to take a hike. We are not huge hikers but the hiking was amazing. And from what we understand, it is a hot spot for hiking fans. There were also camping, biking and tourist guides that would give you a greater opportunity to explore and get close up to the sites. We did not do that but I would love to return and try it out. The Navajo Indian Nation and the Four Corners Monument are what people tend to think of when they think of Monument Valley. I guess I think it is just a place that is so different from other parts of the country that is speaks its own language. You have to see it to experience the wonder and beauty of it all. Monument Valley is not too far away from other neat places as well. You can go to Lake Powell too. It is a fun place to visit and any outdoor enthusiast will not be disappointed.
